What is Zero Rotor Motorsports?
The Zero Rotor Motorsports Mazda RX7

Zero Rotor Motorsports

I started this site because I've done a couple swaps that involve Mazda RX7's that no longer have rotary engines.  The most recent was a 1993 model that I bought in poor condition, that had no engine, no transmission, no driveshaft and was missing several body parts.  I swapped a Corvette LS1 into the car complete with 6speed and GM electronics and the car was fantastic but I never quite finished it.  I got bit by the drag racing bug and sold it to finance the purchase of a Mustang to run in the Real Street class of the NMRA.  Although my recent divorce forced the sale of my whole racing operation, I was able to find another RX7 (a 1991 this time) and though it's a stock, it's the cleanest car I've seen with the high miles it has. I plan to do another swap, but I'm undecided on the powertrain.  I loved the LS1, but the shop that sponsored my Mustang can do amazing things with Ford stuff, so I may just go that route if I decide on max straight line power.  Time will tell!!

This was my first RX7, which I bought stock with a blown rear rotor and decided it needed some serious upgrading.  Now it has a Chevy 350 (mostly) under the hood.  It's changed hands a couple times, but I hear the current owner is street racing it.  These cars are capable of 9-10 second passes with a good suspension setup and the right engine parts, and if you look on youtube.com you'll find quite a few of them throwing down some good passes.
A local gathering of Mazda owners.
About once a month, a group of local Mazda owners meets at the Fuddrucker's in Columbia, MD.  I haven't made that many meets recently, but it's nice to catch up with the guys and gals who are into Mazdas.  Only a few are die-hard rotary fanatics, and even they don't have much bad-mouthing to do.  Overall, everyone is pretty cool about the whole idea.  When I brought my most recent addition to the last meet, everyone was very impressed with how clean it was, and I think they started a pool on how long it would take to swap out the stock engine =)
Jeff of Insane Racing Fabrication welded up the exhaust on the 93 for me.   He's done quite a bit of custom work for several of my cars and I recommend him to everyone who asks about getting work done.  He does everything from mufflers to custom roll cages and chassis.  Anyone in the Maryland area who wants some KICK ASS work, check him out, tell Jeff I sent you!
